Internship Overview

• 📌 Position: Data Intern (Engineering & Product Data Science)

• 📍 Location: Remote – USA (Bellevue, New York City)

This opportunity is ideal for students and recent graduates who are passionate about solving complex problems with data. Shopify is looking for aspiring Data Engineers and Product Data Scientists who can thrive in fast-paced environments, are curious thinkers, and want to create real-world impact through data-driven decisions.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Shopify Data Intern, you will be matched to a team based on your strengths and interests. You can expect to:

• Design and manage data pipelines that fuel internal analytics and product decisions
• Use SQL and Python to build and optimize data models
• Analyze product usage and recommend improvements
• Create dashboards and visualizations for stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and PMs across projects
• Work in-office at least 3 days per week for collaboration and mentorship
• Contribute to experimentation strategies and A/B tests
• Present insights and drive discussions on data findings
• Participate in technical assessments and mentorship activities

Qualifications & Eligibility

The ideal candidate brings curiosity, ownership, and a strong passion for learning. Eligibility criteria include:

• You must be legally entitled to work in the U.S. during the internship (no visa sponsorship)
• Open to soon-to-be graduates, recent graduates, and self-taught learners
• Proficiency in SQL, Python (or similar languages)
• Interest in product analytics, experimentation, or large-scale data infrastructure
• Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced work
• Enthusiastic about collaboration and clear communication
• Able to work from New York City or Bellevue offices during the program
• Commitment to quality and continuous self-improvement is a must
