• 📌 Position: Transport Network Architecture Research Intern
• 📍 Location: Murray Hill, New Jersey
• ⏱ Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
This internship places you inside Nokia Bell Labs’ Network Architecture Research team—one of the most respected R&D groups in the world. Students gain hands-on exposure to cloud networking, software architecture, transport systems, and emerging technologies shaping the future of communication networks.

Roles & Responsibilities
As a Transport Network Architecture Research Intern, you will be responsible for:
• Collaborating with Bell Labs researchers on next-generation network architecture initiatives
• Defining and implementing software solutions for cloud and networking challenges
• Designing and building proof-of-concept demonstrations
• Using open-source tools and cloud technologies to test and validate research ideas
• Supporting experiments involving network algorithms, transport systems, and protocol behavior
• Contributing to documentation, internal reports, and research presentations
• Participating in discussions on AI/ML-driven network automation
• Assisting in prototyping software components that interface with networking hardware
Qualifications & Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong programming skills: Python, C++, or similar languages
• Knowledge of computer networks, cloud platforms, and distributed systems
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud-native tools
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship provided)
• Ability to collaborate in research-driven environments and learn quickly
Nice to Have:
• Experience with programmable switches or NICs
• Understanding of optical or packet transport networks
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts or large language model training
• PCB, hardware, or embedded experience (optional but helpful)
