The DoorDash Software Engineer Internship is designed to give you hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges. During the 12-week program, interns join full engineering teams, work on live products, and contribute directly to customer-facing applications. From backend systems that handle millions of deliveries to front-end experiences used daily by merchants and dashers, this internship offers a full-stack learning experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer Intern at DoorDash, you’ll:
• Develop, test, and deploy new features that impact real users across DoorDash’s marketplace.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to create scalable software solutions.
• Participate in daily standups, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure quality and performance.
• Analyze existing systems and propose improvements to enhance scalability, stability, and efficiency.
• Gain experience in areas such as backend services, APIs, and real-time systems.
• Work with databases like AWS or SQL and learn to optimize complex queries for performance.
• Actively engage in intern programming, such as leadership talks, tech sessions, and social events.
• Present your final project and outcomes during a company-wide intern showcase.

Qualifications & Eligibility

DoorDash is looking for motivated and technically skilled students who are eager to learn and contribute:
• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Graduation expected between Fall 2026 and Summer 2027.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming (Python, Java, Kotlin, or similar).
• Experience working with databases (AWS, SQL, etc.).
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using version control (Git).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a growth mindset.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. — F-1 students on CPT are eligible (J-1 visas not supported).

Preferred but not required:
• Previous internship or project experience in software development.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Participation in hackathons, technical clubs, or research projects demonstrating initiative.
