• 📍 Location: Multiple U.S. locations (Alameda CA, Santa Clara CA, Lake County IL, Columbus OH, Austin TX, Princeton NJ, Plymouth MN, Sylmar CA, Temecula CA)

• ⏱ Time Commitment: Full-time

This internship is especially valuable because Abbott exposes interns to real finance operations inside both corporate and plant environments. Unlike programs where interns shadow from a distance, Abbott integrates its interns directly into budgeting, planning, accounting, and supply-chain finance. Interns also work closely with analysts and managers, allowing them to understand how financial decisions influence healthcare production, logistics, and product development. Students who perform well are considered for Abbott’s prestigious Financial Professional Development Program (FPDP) — a rotational, leadership-accelerator program that builds future finance leaders.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Finance Intern at Abbott, you may work across various finance teams depending on your assigned location. Typical responsibilities include:

• Supporting Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) through budgeting and forecasting tasks
• Assisting with manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, and operational reporting
• Contributing to supply chain finance, logistics, and inventory-related evaluations
• Working on corporate finance initiatives and special projects
• Preparing reports, financial models, and presentations for internal teams
• Analyzing performance data to identify trends and improvement areas
• Collaborating with finance and cross-functional colleagues for project execution
• Learning finance tools, business systems, and core accounting methodologies
• Participating in team meetings, leadership discussions, and professional development sessions

Qualifications & Eligibility

Required:
• Must have completed at least one year of college before internship start
• Must be enrolled in school for the semester after the internship
• Pursuing a BS/BA degree
• Will complete minimum 4 accounting classes before graduation (one must be cost accounting)
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred (Not Mandatory):
• Finance, Accounting, or Economics major
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Leadership involvement on campus
• Membership in finance, business, or accounting clubs
• Previous finance/accounting internship or part-time experience
