Role Overview

You will join the SAP BTP ABAP Platform team—800+ experts worldwide who deliver the customizing tools, content management, and OData provisioning that 12 million users rely on daily. As a Developer Associate, you will design, code, and maintain ABAP features that sit at the very heart of SAP’s business platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams while building solutions that scale to thousands of customers.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Product Owners, designers, and fellow engineers to design, develop, and test innovative ABAP solutions that align with customer requirements.
• Own assigned product backlog items—using standard programming concepts, analytical thinking, and your own judgment to solve problems of varying complexity.
• Continuously optimize performance by profiling code, refactoring modules, and implementing best-practice patterns.
• Acquire deep product knowledge to deliver high-quality support for SAP customers and internal consultants, acting as a trusted subject-matter expert.
• Investigate, analyze, and resolve customer incidents at the Development Support level, ensuring quick and reliable resolutions.
• Elevate code quality by conducting peer reviews, providing constructive feedback, and packaging robust maintenance corrections for stable product releases.
• Document technical designs, contribute to knowledge-base articles, and present your work during sprint demos and global community calls.
Qualifications & Eligibility
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field with strong academic records.
• 1–3 years of professional software-development experience using ABAP and Object-Oriented ABAP.
• Solid grounding in computer-science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in collaborative tools (Git, Jira) and agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
• Strong analytical skills, a high-performance orientation, and the curiosity to learn new technologies quickly (e.g., ABAP RESTful Programming Model, CAP, or SAP HANA Cloud).
• Excellent verbal and written communication with an ability to work cross-culturally and translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
