As part of Microsoft’s Azure Data Engineering division, this role focuses on building and scaling Cosmos DB, one of the fastest-growing distributed cloud databases globally. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position where you will shape core infrastructure used by developers building scalable, low-latency applications worldwide.
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at Microsoft, you will:

Design and implement highly scalable and secure services for real-time data applications.

Work on distributed systems and cloud architecture for Azure Cosmos DB.

Collaborate across product, architecture, and platform teams to deliver performant features.

Participate in on-call rotations to ensure product reliability and minimize system interruptions.

Use clean code practices and robust testing to ensure maintainable, production-grade software.

Identify gaps and contribute to live-site tooling and process improvements.

Actively seek ways to improve engineering efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Eligibility
Here’s what Microsoft is looking for in a candidate:

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field

Languages Proficiency in at least one language – C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript

Frameworks Practical experience with .NET Framework

Bonus Knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and distributed systems

Experience Level Open to both experienced professionals and entry-level engineers with strong fundamentals
