Roles & Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer at HSBC, your role will be dynamic and critical to the company’s technology roadmap. You’ll be part of a global team responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling backend services and APIs. Key responsibilities include:

Designing and developing APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Maintaining and deploying applications in cloud environments like AWS or PCF.
Contributing to the entire software development lifecycle, including testing and deployment.
Supporting DevOps integration and ensuring smooth CI/CD pipelines.
Working closely with Dev, Ops, and QA teams to resolve production issues.
Participating in code reviews and architectural discussions to improve system design.
Advocating modern software development practices and driving engineering excellence.
Collaborating with global stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
Staying up to date with emerging technologies and incorporating best practices into your work.
Maintaining awareness of data privacy regulations and cybersecurity protocols.

Qualifications & Eligibility

To succeed in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong programming experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS or PCF.
Familiarity with agile development, DevOps tools, and CI/CD workflows.
Prior experience in working with distributed teams and agile sprints.
A passion for writing clean, testable, and well-documented code.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Knowledge of tools like Jira, Confluence, Git, and Jenkins.
Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
