This internship is part of Rolls-Royce’s Emerging Talent Programme, designed to give you hands-on exposure to the real-world applications of embedded systems. As an intern, you’ll work on projects that span energy systems, IoT, diagnostics, and more β€” gaining insights into how Rolls-Royce delivers its cleaner and smarter power solutions.


Roles & Responsibilities

During the internship, you’ll be involved in a range of impactful tasks, such as:

  • Working across domains like energy systems, controls, Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), IoT, and diagnostics.

  • Collaborating with teams in power generation, power electronics, engine management, and testing – with opportunities to explore marine, rail, or power generation projects.

  • Using simulation toolchains and learning industry communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and XCP.

  • Assisting in designing test cases, implementing automation test scripts, and developing new testing methodologies for embedded systems and devices.

  • Contributing to the setup of test benches for ECU diagnostics testing while incorporating Industry 4.0 practices in electrical design.

  • Conducting market research to identify best practices relevant to ongoing projects at Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

  • Performing trend analysis to extrapolate insights that support evaluations of future growth opportunities.

  • Identifying and proposing process improvement ideas to enhance current work practices.

This hands-on exposure will help you develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a holistic understanding of how embedded systems power innovation at a global scale.


Qualifications & Eligibility

Rolls-Royce is looking for motivated students who are eager to learn and contribute. You should have:

  • Current enrollment in a university or recent graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C, and C++.

  • A solid foundation in electronic and/or software engineering principles.

  • Relevant academic projects or thesis work in Embedded Systems, Electronics, or Software.

  • (Preferred) Some understanding of diesel engines or power products.

  • A collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment.
