Internship Overview
• 📌 Position: Production Process & Quality Co-Op
• 📍 Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
• ⏱ Time Commitment: Full-time
This co-op introduces students to a hybrid role blending process engineering and quality engineering in a real automotive manufacturing environment. Students work on individual projects, shadow experienced engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.

You participate in quality meetings, attend engineering reviews, conduct time studies, and even help design ergonomic improvement tools. Roles & Responsibilities
As a Production Process & Quality Co-Op, you will support key engineering and quality tasks across BMW’s body-in-white operations. Responsibilities include:
• Preparing daily 24-hour performance and quality reports
• Participating in dimensional reviews and quality follow-up discussions
• Shadowing Process Engineers and Quality Engineers to learn plant operations
• Designing ergonomic and process-improvement tools for the production floor
• Conducting time studies to support feasibility evaluations
• Helping analyze data for process changes and operational improvements
• Observing root-cause discussions and learning structured problem-solving
Qualifications & Eligibility
BMW is looking for students who meet the following criteria:
• Working toward a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (preferred)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Familiarity with quality tools: PFMEA, data analysis, statistical calculations
• Minimum GPA: 3.0 (overall or at current institution if a transfer student)
• Completed at least 30 credit hours before applying
• Enrolled at an accredited U.S. university during all 3 rotations
• Must be able to work full-time onsite (40 hours/week)
• Must pass a substance abuse test before the work term
• Unofficial transcript is required during application
