Internship Overview

📌 Position: Mechanical Engineering Intern (GEM)

📍 Location: San Diego, California (On-Site)

⏱ Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Interns work on real hardware used in EUV light source systems—one of the most significant technological leaps in chip manufacturing. Roles & Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on projects directly contributing to ASML’s EUV Light Source program. Responsibilities may include:

• Creating mechanical concepts to improve system performance
• Performing 3D mechanical design using industry tools
• Conducting tolerance analyses at system and sub-system levels
• Supporting thermal and structural analysis for mechanical components
• Working with senior engineers, scientists, and CAD experts
• Collaborating on prototype design and hands-on testing
• Coordinating with suppliers for manufacturing custom hardware
• Troubleshooting engineering challenges alongside cross-functional teams
• Preparing technical documentation and design summaries
• Participating in daily engineering reviews and improvement discussions

Qualifications & Eligibility

Required Education:
• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering

Required Skills:
• Strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics
• Ability to process and visualize large datasets
• Hands-on experience with design-to-test engineering workflows
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (Nx preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred But Not Mandatory:
• Experience in prototype building or mechanical testing
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes
• Prior exposure to semiconductor or hardware engineering environments

Authorization:
Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
