β’ π Position: User Research Intern β 2026
β’ π Location: Remote β United States
β’ π Duration: 12-week Summer Internship
β’ β± Time Commitment: Full-time
Roles & Responsibilities
As a User Research Intern at GitHub, you will play an active role in helping teams understand developers, their workflows, and the challenges they face. Expect meaningful, hands-on work such as:
β’ Supporting the creation of user research plans for upcoming features
β’ Helping scope research questions, select participants, and prepare study materials
β’ Assisting with end-to-end research activities including study design, test creation, moderating sessions, and collecting insights
β’ Analyzing qualitative and quantitative feedback from developers and internal tools
β’ Participating in journey-mapping workshops, ideation sessions, and collaborative product discussions
β’ Reviewing existing research data to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities
β’ Preparing summaries and reports that help product and design teams improve user experiences
β’ Supporting product teams with customer engagement insights to drive better decision-making
Qualifications & Eligibility
Required:
β’ Pursuing a Bachelorβs degree in HCI, UX Design, Information Science, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Computer Science, Human Factors, or similar field
β’ At least one academic term remaining after the internship
β’ Strong interest in user behavior, product experiences, and research methodologies
β’ Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
β’ Strong communication skills β both written and verbal
β’ Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred (Not Mandatory):
β’ Experience planning or conducting small-scale research studies
β’ Ability to present insights in a clear and compelling way
β’ Background with developer tools or technical environments
β’ Exposure to coding, open-source contributions, or hackathons
