This is a hands-on opportunity to work with Mastercard’s Decision Intelligence team, which plays a critical role in building fraud detection models that protect millions of transactions daily. Roles & Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist Intern, you will contribute to the design and optimization of Mastercard’s fraud detection models. Your tasks may include:

• Performing feature engineering to extract meaningful patterns from complex transaction data
• Enhancing existing machine learning models to adapt to evolving fraud trends
• Monitoring model performance using robust metrics and alert systems
• Investigating post-production performance and identifying areas for feature improvement

Qualifications & Eligibility

Mastercard is seeking passionate and curious individuals who are excited by AI’s potential in real-world applications. Here’s what you need to qualify:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
• Graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027
• Experience working with open-source AI models like LLaMA, OpenAI, or other relevant platforms
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML projects—either academic or personal—will give you a strong edge
• Strong proficiency in Python and Microsoft Office tools
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship (F1 visa holders including CPT/OPT are not eligible for this role)
