This Application Engineer internship provides hands-on experience in technical sales engineering, process automation, and customer delivery in a real-world environment. The role specifically supports Emerson’s Shutdown, Turnaround & Outage (STO) operations — providing a unique chance to work on high-impact industrial service engagements.

Roles & Responsibilities

As an Application Engineer intern, you’ll work closely with sales and technical engineering teams to provide quote solutions and product documentation. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Responding to customer inquiries with accurate quotes and documentation for valves and replacement parts
Supporting the Sales team in identifying competitive advantages and upselling opportunities
Creating technical datasheets and MOC (Management of Change) documents
Helping build internal tools for automation of quoting and product tracking
Developing materials for internal training and external product differentiation
Collaborating with operations to ensure fast conversions and timely delivery
Maintaining records in CRM and ERP systems for transparency and process efficiency
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives with technical insights

This internship is ideal for engineering students who want to gain exposure to sales engineering, product positioning, ERP systems, and cross-functional operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Eligibility

The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented student with a technical background and a willingness to learn on the job. Requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree (ongoing or recently completed) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or related field
Interest in technical customer service, product engineering, or process automation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent communication and analytical thinking skills
Positive, collaborative attitude with a problem-solving mindset
Bonus: Familiarity with SAP ERP, pressure relief valves, or Microsoft Power Platform
Location preference: Chennai-based or able to work hybrid from Emerson’s Tamil Nadu office
